If you’re a planner like me, you love a good checklist.
There’s just something so satisfying about having a clear path forward—especially when it comes to wedding planning. Whether you’re newly engaged (congrats!) or knee-deep in decision-making, having a simple roadmap can make the whole process feel a little less overwhelming and a lot more exciting.
Let’s break it down into 5 key steps that will get you from “yes” to “I do” with less stress and more confidence.
✅ 1. Hire a Planner
Before you dive into Pinterest boards and vendor emails, bring a planner on board (hi, it’s me 👋). Whether you’re looking for full-service planning or just someone to guide you through the big stuff, having a professional in your corner will save you time, money, and decision fatigue. We know what to ask, who to trust, and how to turn your vision into reality—without the chaos.
✅ 2. Book Your Venue + Choose Your Date
Your venue sets the tone for the entire wedding. From rustic barns to elegant ballrooms or outdoor gardens, once you have your location and date secured, everything else can start to fall into place. Pro tip: dates book fast, especially in peak seasons, so lock this in early!
✅ 3. Find The Dress
This is one of the most fun parts of wedding planning, and for good reason! Your dress is a huge part of your day and should reflect your personal style, vibe, and comfort. Keep in mind that dresses often take months to come in—and even longer with alterations—so start shopping as soon as you can.
✅ 4. Book Your Major Vendors
Now it’s time to secure the core dream team:
- Photographer
- Videographer
- Caterer
- Florist
- DJ or band
- Hair + makeup
These vendors tend to book 12–18 months in advance, especially the good ones. If you’ve got a specific vendor in mind, don’t wait—get them on the books!
✅ 5. Keep. That. Budget.
It’s easy to get swept away in all the pretty things, but staying on budget is key to avoiding stress down the line. Your planner (that’s me again!) can help you build a realistic budget and stick to it, all while making sure your wedding still feels like you. There are creative ways to save and still have a stunning, unforgettable day.
Wedding planning doesn’t have to feel overwhelming. With the right checklist—and the right people by your side—you can enjoy the process and soak up every moment. Ready to start planning? I’d love to chat and see how we can bring your dream day to life!
